WOW! Cough cough, this place was getting pretty dusty, I honestly don't even remember what happened in the last THREE MONTHS...
But here I am back ʕ ◑ ᴥ ◑ʔ (I promise I'll try not to be away for so long again)
But well, let's get to the point of the day! My companion @gi_favetta was taking a really cool design and illustration course these days, and one of the activities was to create a "fictional band", and I really liked this idea, because you see, I really like a lot of mediocre bands that are very little known out there, and why not create one more of these unknown bands created entirely inside my head?
(and of course the desire and idea to make this band came to me in the middle of the night because I couldn't sleep)
I thought it would be interesting to make a band of pre-teens, because who had an instrument in childhood and didn't have this incredible idea of having a famous band one day? Even if this desire only lasted a year or less.......that's when the characters came to my head right away with all their stories and etc. Initially, the idea was to be a retro dreamcore band (just an excuse to make a kind of old video game music without meaning)

And then my head started to wander through the characters, Rebecca would be the leader of the band, a girl who is the school's dodgeball champion who only occasionally played the guitar with her grandfather at home, Shiro is the typical shy boy who doesn't know how to defend himself from others (who, like every antisocial, was socially "adopted" by Rebecca) the desire to have a band came from him, because he always liked electronic equipment and the bizarre noises they make..... Yolanda, the most animated percussionist in the school marching band (notice I said animated and not better) she just saw the two talking about having a band and decided to join it, even without knowing either of them. And that's how I started sketching them and this was the result
I thought about working with a kind of scribbled and collage idea for their band, since well, they are kids so we can't expect something very elaborate
So, wow, characters ready,, I need a cover now, initially I thought of doing the classic band photo taken by a fisheye lens, it would give a very low budget look and I think it would fit them well...it would be, until one weekend I went downtown to take my sister for a walk in the city and on the bus ride I came across this scene, and at that moment I thought this should be the band's cover, with a character in the landscape, unconsciously I was already thinking of something similar to the cover of the album Ceres & Calypso in the Deep Time by the band Candy Claws

And then I thought: if they have photos of them, who took them?
That's when another random character appeared, Isa, Shiro's cousin who has a certain passion for photography, and who was caught at that moment thinking where she should take a photo for the band cover....in the end she ended up becoming the cover herself since Shiro was too shy to appear on the cover

And boom that's how the final result was, initially I thought of a cover for a cassette tape, with front and back, I liked the result, should I have stopped there? Definitely, but I wanted to do two more things...
3D
The first is that in my head these kids would live in a world that I'm creating for a little game that you can see here, and a while ago I made some technological equipment for this world, so why not make them have recorded this on a tape from this world? So I decided to make this 3D model that I really liked in the end

Music
The other part was more difficult.....making the music, I don't know if you know, but I don't know ANYTHING about music, but I really wanted to make some sounds of this band, so using my limited knowledge and the BeepBox that I already talked about in this post here, I made these short tunes that you can listen to here (in the end I ended up finding the first song pretty bad but I really liked the last two ʕ > ᴥ <ʔ)
